Download and Installation of iPodder

Go to http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ipodder/iPodder21Setup.exe?download

Select a mirror location to from which to download the file. (I use the closest location, which is Chapel Hill, NC, but any location will work.)

Under the Download column, click on the icon across from the location from which you choose to download the program.

Depending on your Internet Explorer security settings, you may receive a download permission band across the top of your browser window. If you do, you must grant permission for the download by clicking on the band and then clicking "Download File".

A box will pop up, click save and select "Desktop" as the download location and download the program file (iPodder21Setup.exe).

Go to your Desktop and double click on the iPodder21Setup.exe file. If a security box opens, click run to begin the installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. (On the fourth screen check the boxes for Desktop shortcut and Add to Startup Group)

When the installation is completed the iPodder software will open.

You can unsubscribe from "Adam Curry: iPodder Test Channel" and "iPodder News" by clicking on each one separately and then clicking on the red circular button with the "x" sign in the center to delete the selected podcast.

Subscribing to CopCAST

Click on the green circular button with the "+" sign in the center to add a feed.

In the URL box enter: http://copcast.net/copcast.xml

Click the "Save" button.

The available CopCAST episodes will be displayed in the bottom window area. Click the check boxes beside the episodes that you want to download.

In the top half of the window, click on the CopCAST line to select it then click on either the green square button with two arrows in the center (checks all subscibed podcasts) or the blue circular button with the white triangle sign in the center (checks only the selected podcast) to download any new episodes.

Scheduling Automatic Downloads

Click the Tools menu, select "Scheduler", click the "Enable scheduler" check box. You can select either "Check at specific times" or "Check at regular intervals" depending on your preference. The Check at specific times option allows you to designate up to three separate times to check for new podcasts. The "Check at regular intervals" option allows you to specify checks at one of the specified intervals from 30 minutes to 12 hours.

The default location for the podcast downloads is in the users "My Documents" folder under the folder entitled "My Received Podcasts". This location can be changed by clicking "File", "Preferences" and changing the "Download podcasts into this folder" option under the "General" tab.
